Sawtooth Ranch: Located in Catron County. Just east of Pie Town NM. Catron County is known for some of the best elk Hunting in Western New Mexico. Adjacent to the Sawtooth Mountain Range. This area produces 350-375 class bull elk annually. 7824 deeded acres and 1137 leased acres, in unit 13. The New Mexico Department of Game and Fish has designated the area 13 for long-term trophy management and restricts elk hunting to Archery and Muzzleloader rifle, primitive weapons only. The Sawtooth Ranch receives 15 +- landowner bull tags annually and 4-6 antlerless elk tags annually.. Trophy elk hunting and cattle ranches surround the Sawtooth ranch on three sides, and Cibola National Forest borders on the east.
